This tells the story of a pair of pants that hang freely without being worn. The names she wishes she had chosen are ridiculous sounding, like "Stinky," "Putt-Putt", "Buffalo Bil." Mrs McCave has twenty-three sons all named Dave and the story expresses her wishes of naming them something else. At the end, the Sneetches all remain penniless and McBean walks away a wealthy man. This makes the star Sneetches jealous and they pay him to have their star removed so they remain special. Sylvester McMonkey McBean is a greedy entrepreneur who convinces the Sneetches without the stars to get a star tattoos if they pay him money. The Sneetches without a star are discriminated against. Some Sneetches have a star on their belly, thus making them special. The story is cantered around the Sneetches, a group of yellow bird-like creatures.
